What I can do for you?

Together with any other person(s) you have chosen to be there with you, I am your ongoing support person during your pregnancy, birth and after the birth of your baby.

Preparing for your birth

During your pregnancy, I take the time to get to know you and your family, we talk about what kind of birth and postpartum period you would like to achieve, and how I can help you to do that. You will have time to ask questions and I will provide you the most current information in relation to to these questions or otherwise relevant to you. I also help you to write your birth preferences. You will learn techniques that will help you to be mentally and physically ready and remain focussed and relaxed when you are in labour. Your partner is included in all of this (if that’s what you want), so that you have the time to practise these tools as a team and are both prepared when it’s time to meet your baby!

During labour and birth

On your birthing day, I support you by creating the right atmosphere for you to labour in. Based on the birth you are hoping to achieve and how you feel, I can make suggestions about measures to keep you as comfortable as possible, such as changing positions, natural forms of pain-relief and relaxation techniques – we’re then using the tools we have discussed and practised during your pregnancy.

After your baby is born

After your baby is born and you return home – that is, unless you are at home already -, I come and visit you, and we can debrief your birth experience (if that’s what you like to do). I understand that each family has different needs, so I will be there for you in whatever way you need me to: Listen and hold space, provide guidance, ideas or simply a different perspective for “everyday struggles”, or help with light household duties. Although many people think cooking and cleaning are mundane tasks, I believe that for some familes they are an important part of postpartum care, as they give the mother more time to focus on what matters the most: falling in love with her new baby and rest. I endeavour to be the visitor you look forward to, and to bring a breath of fresh air into your everyday life while you adjust to being a mum – that is my greatest joy!

All of my information and support is based on your needs – I am an honest, open-minded person that will follow your wishes without judgement, and will always treat you with love and respect.
